Weather: September is one of the best months to tour weatherwise because there are relatively warm comfortable temperatures and relatively low rainfall.
The average nightly low temperature is 11 °C (52 °F), and the average daily high temperature is 17 °C (63 °F). When it is sunny, the UV index is very high. The high humidity of 87% might make it feel warmer when it is sunny.
The three main peaks are 1,800m+ tall and are about a kilometer above the lower regions of the park. So the tops are about 10 °C (18 °F) colder than the city. The famed 'sea of clouds' is caused by the warm moist air from the ocean being blocked by the high peaks.

Clothing: On warm sunny days, you might still wear shorts and T-shirts, but we suggest taking thin layers to adapt to changing conditions and to protect against sunburn. A light raincoat is less awkward than an umbrella for hiking. A sunhat will protect your face when it is sunny.

Hiking: You'll see some red and yellow leaves decorating the peaks during a hike up in September. Be aware that it is peak season and there are big crowds when the weather is good. Walk, Sightsee, Dine, and Shop at Xidi Village
Xidi Village is an old clan village that is now a World Heritage site. There are well preserved Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) courtyard gardens and houses. It is less touristy and less visited than Hongcun, set for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

Peak Travel Season
The Mid-Autumn Day holiday comes in September most years and brings both huge crowds and interesting celebrations and customs. To avoid the biggest crowds, don't tour during these holidays, at the end of September (before National Day), or on Friday or Saturday.
We can arrange hotel reservations and transport. Yellow Mountains flights and hotel rooms are relatively more expensive than in low season. Train tickets might be difficult to obtain.
