Things to Do in Kunming in November
Cui Lake Park: The big pond is called "Green Lake" in English. It is the most popular city park for tourists. Locals especially like the Siberian seagulls. At the end of November, flocks of black-headed gulls from Siberia start coming in. Flocks of other migratory birds come too. Enjoy feeding the birds and watching the locals perform, exercise, and paint. You can rent a boat to go out on the lake and see the scenery.
Shop: Downtown at Dongfeng Road, Qingnian Road, and Zhengyi Road, there are convenient places to shop. These malls and small shops sell both foreign brands, locally produced crafts products, and locally grown Chinese herbal teas and green teas. Enjoy the shopping. You can get bargains on artistic crafts products such as Sani handbags, wax print fabrics and clothes, and souvenirs.
The Stone ForestDine: There are both foreign style restaurants and local style restaurants. Kunming's local specialties include Over the Bridge Rice Noodles and Steam Pot Chicken.
Stone Forest Geopark: This park features several square miles of stone pillars, ravines, pits, and caves. The unusual geology is listed as a UNESCO geopark. Some areas look like a pine forest. Lion Pavilion (Shizi Ting) that is the highest point in the park affords the best views. Be careful while hiking since a slip might be dangerous. Wear shoes with good traction. The Geopark is about 1.5 hours from Kunming.

November and December are low travel months. As the temperature drops, people hunker down to work and school until the Chinese New Year holidays. The prices for hotel rooms, flight tickets and train tickets are lower than usual.
