Weather: May is mild and warm, and occasionally hot. It is excellent touring weather. The average high temperature is 26 °C (79 °F), and the average low temperature is 17 °C (63 °F). It rains more during May (15 days of the month), and is quite humid.
Clothing: Summer clothes like T-shirts are appropriate, but also bring a light coat or a sweater for the occasional coolness. If you go outdoors, take an umbrella in case it rains.

The Dragon Boat Games in Xinjin may fall in late May or June depending on the year. Enjoy the exciting sport and the local customs of the Dragon Boat Festival during the fine weather.

Peak Tourist Season
May is a peak month for Chengdu's tourism business, especially around the National Labor Day holiday. These public holidays usually are the first three days of May, and the city gets quite crowded.
