Chengdu Weather in November 2025: Travel Tips

Written by Lyris Lu Updated Aug. 13, 2025

Weather: November is a bit chilly in Chengdu. The average daily high temperature is around 16 °C (61 °F), and the lowest temperature is about 10 °C (50 °F).

It is generally cloudy or foggy at this time of year, but it rains very little (8 mm total). It won't feel dry because of the foggy climate. The sun rarely shines, so you may feel a bit cold. Snow is rare in downtown Chengdu, but you may see snowfall in nearby areas like Jiuzhaigou and Mount Emei.

Clothing: long pants, a shirt or blouse, and a coat or a light jacket. If you plan to visit colder mountain areas, pack some sweaters and a warm, heavy jacket as well.

Is November a Good Time to Visit Chengdu?

Chengdu in November can be a bit damp and cold, so if you're from tropical countries like Singapore or Malaysia, it might take some time to get used to.

But November isn't as cold as winter, so if you can handle a mild chill, this month is a good time to visit Chengdu.

You Can Enjoy a Shoulder Season in Chengdu

November is a shoulder season in Chengdu. Some visitors will choose to come during this time to avoid peak season crowds, so it's neither too busy nor too empty.

When visiting popular spots like Kuanzhai Alley, Jinli Old Street, and Chengdu Panda Base, you may still feel a bit busy, but not crowded, and you don't need to queue. Most other attractions tend to have fewer visitors, so you can explore Chengdu at a relaxed pace.

Travel costs in November are also more budget-friendly. You can expect hotel and airfare prices to be at normal or slightly reduced rates, as well as discounted off-season tickets.

You Can Admire the Most Beautiful Autumn Scenery

In November, Chengdu is full of beautiful autumn colors, like chrysanthemums and yellow ginkgo, all around the city.

You can enjoy the fall foliage in many must-visit or popular spots at the same time, so you don't have to go out of your way to see them elsewhere.

November is also a season when you can catch both colorful autumn leaves and early snow.

Apart from Chengdu, in nearby areas like Qingcheng Mountain, Dujiangyan, and Jiuzhaigou, it's best for you to catch the autumn leaves in early November and possibly snow later in the month.

Best Places to Visit in Chengdu in November

November in Chengdu is still cool, perfect for you to see active pandas and savor spicy and warm street food. But you'll also enjoy some unique seasonal sights not usually seen in October.

People's Park: Chrysanthemum Exhibition and Autumn Walks

Every November, Chengdu's People's Park hosts a month-long Chrysanthemum Exhibition,  where you can appreciate over 500 varieties of chrysanthemums and other flowers freely.

There are also gradually turning yellow ginkgo trees and koelreuteria trees in the park to enjoy. You can take a leisurely walk or sip a tea like a local, while soaking in the peaceful autumn views.

At this time, People's Park sees fewer tourists, with mostly locals around, so you can enjoy a lively yet peaceful atmosphere.

Dujiangyan: Crystal-Clear Waters and Early Blue Tears

The river of Dujiangyan Irrigation System at this time is clear blue-green, unlike the muddy yellow of the rainy season, and not yet in the low-water period, so you'll have a more pleasant viewing experience and photos, especially for a panoramic view of this grand program.

The cool weather and few visitors also ensure you have a more comfortable walking experience. You can walk along the river to admire the golden gingko and red maples, or just sit down and sip tea at a riverside teahouse while enjoying the views.

If you also want to visit the social media-famous Blue Tear, a separate spot outside Dujiangyan Irrigation System scenic area, you'll also catch the night view early around 6:30 pm (8:00 pm in summer).

Jiuzhaigou and Bipenggou: Autumn Leaves and Early Snow

In early November 1-5, it's still the golden time for Jiuzhaigou's autumn leaves. Although the crowds are heavy (over 30,000 visitors daily), you can catch the tail end of the most beautiful time of Jiuzhaigou and snap the most fabulous photos.

From the 5th to 10th, some trees have started to wither, but you can still see some autumn colors, though the area remains busy.

By mid to late November, many trees have lost their leaves, but the lakes are still brimming with water, so it won't affect you to admire the water views, and you may luckily meet the snowfall.

Visitors also drop to 10,000+ daily, and you can enjoy off-season tickets at less than half the usual price, helping you save on your trip.

If you want to see both autumn leaves and snow all at once, while avoiding crowds, we recommend you visit Bipenggou, 2-3 hour drive from Chengdu, and we can arrange a private car for your round trip.

Bipenggou's autumn foliage season is similar to Jiuzhaigou's, but the mountaintops already have snow. You're advised to visit in the morning, as the soft light is the best time for photography.
