Tianjin Museum stands on the Galaxy Plaza, a junction where Friendship Road in Hexi District and Pingjiangdao Road meet. The museum contains nearly 200,000 articles, including historical relics and modern historical documents. The museum also has 200,000 books
The historical relics include ancient bronze wares and ceramics, calligraphies, paintings, jades, seals, Chinese stationery, oracle bones, coins, stamps, Dunhuang manuscripts, bamboo and wooden wares, ivories and horn wares, and folk arts and crafts. Among these, ancient ceramics, calligraphies, paintings, ink slabs, coins, modern historical relics and documents are the highlights.

Selected Rare Relics (耀世奇珍) – Rare Treasures
The selected rare relics of the museum are on display in an exhibition hall which covers an area of 840 square meters. These relics include ancient bronze wares, jades, calligraphies, paintings, porcelain, arts and crafts, and articles of this kind. Among these, there are 63 representative treasures.
Origins of the Tianjin Culture (天津人文的由来) – Ancient Tianjin
The Origins of the Tianjin Culture is one of the basic exhibition halls in Tianjin Museum. The collections in this exhibition hall generally show people Tianjin's historical development process of more than 10,000 years, from the Old Stone Age to the semi-late Qing Dynasty, and reveals its tortuous development from a wasteland to the city that many rivers, including canals, run through.
Tianjin and Modern China (中华百年看天津) – Modern Tianjin
The collections in the Tianjin and Modern China exhibition hall show Tianjin's development in the 100 years from the Opium Wars to the founding of the People's Republic of China.
Besides, there are eight relics-themed exhibition halls which display calligraphies, paintings, jades, the Chinese blessing culture, Chinese stationery, and folk arts and crafts.
Tianjin Museum is free to everyone. With the proper documentation, you can get a ticket at the ticket office.
Opening hours: 9 am-4.30 pm (Tuesdays-Sundays). Tickets cannot be issued after 4 pm.
