Things to Do in Harbin in November
See the Siberian tigers: There is a big cat preserve a few kilometers away from Central Market Street across the river. It is one of Harbin's favorite attractions. Hundreds of Siberian tigers live in a 250 acre park together with Bengal tigers, pumas, and lions. The Siberian tiger is the largest species of cats, and they can weigh 225 kilograms or 500 pounds.
Their breeding program has been successful, and it may be a way to preserve the species from extinction since only a few hundred of them remain. You can feed them and ride vans into their field.
Enjoy the Harbin restaurants: If it is freezing and you don't want to go out, you can enjoy a variety of international cuisines such as Russian, Japanese, and Korean. Harbin's cuisine has been influenced strongly by the Russians, and the local Russian expats can enjoy their cuisine in many restaurants.
See St. Sofia Cathedral
St. Sophia Orthodox Cathedral: It is one of Harbin's favorite attractions. The big Russian cathedral was finished in 1932 to serve the large Russian population who built central Harbin in the early 20th century.
It has beautiful and unusual architecture. Inside, there is an intricate play of shadows and light on subdued colors. The exterior is striking with shiny gold and green domes against a blue sky. At night, soft lights glow and make the cathedral look inviting. It is a tall building 53 meters or 174 feet in height.
