The Best Time to Visit Shenzhen
The best time to visit Shenzhen is from October to April. The weather during this period is pleasant with much less rainfall and the occurrence of a typhoon is very rare.
Spring - Pleasant with Less Rain
Spring is from March to May. The weather is generally warm and relatively dry at the beginning of the season but it is a bit unstable from May.
In spring, the average high temperature is 27°C (81°F) and the average low temperature is 21°C (70°F).
Clothing
Prepare sweaters and a jacket in March because the temperature may drop at night. In April, some long-sleeved clothes are adequate. When May arrives, you can wear your summer clothes.

May is the beginning of the rainy season in Shenzhen so an umbrella is useful.
Spring is a peak season for tourism in Shenzhen due to the wonderful weather. You have better opportunities to enjoy your travel experience on clear days and your plans are never interrupted by heavy rain and extreme weather.

Summer - Hot, Rainy, and Occasional Typhoons

In summer, the average high temperature is 32°C (90°F) and the average low temperature is 27°C (81°F). The high temperature sometimes reaches 40°C (104°F).
June to August is the rainy season with frequent afternoon showers while the city is occasionally hit by typhoons from July to September.
Clothing
Wear summer clothes, such as shorts, shirts, and skirts, and sun protection, such as hats, sunblock, and sunglasses.
Travel Tips in Summer
Drink lots of water and avoid going out at noon. Try drinking the popular local herbal tea. Take an umbrella to protect yourself from both the sunshine and the rainfall while traveling during this season.
Although the rain and typhoons can cause disadvantages, summer is still a peak season to travel, especially during July and August, which is the Chinese summer holiday for students. You are advised to book your flights and hotels at least 1 month in advance if you are going to travel during the summer vacation period.
There are not as many visitors to the city in June and September.
Autumn - Sunny and Cool
Autumn is from mid-October to December. It is one of the best times of the year to travel in Shenzhen, with mostly pleasant sunny and cool weather.
The average low and high temperatures are 23°C (73°F) and 28°C (82°F) in October, 19°C (66°F) and 24°C (75°F) in November, and 15°C (59°F) and 21°C (70°F) in December.

Prepare a light sweater and a coat but also a long-sleeved shirt to wear when it is warmer during the day.
Travel Tips in Autumn
Autumn is the golden time to visit Shenzhen as the temperature is much cooler than the scorching summer and there is less rain. You can carry less luggage and be less concerned about the weather.
Autumn is an excellent time to go to a high location and enjoy a bird's-eye view of the city.
Winter - Mild and Dry
Winter is short, lasting from January to February, with mild and dry weather. It is also one of the best times of the year to visit Shenzhen.
The average low and high temperatures are 14°C (57°F) and 19°C (66°F) in January, and 15°C (59°F) and 19°C (66°F) in February.
Clothing
Shenzhen's winter is not very cold so packing shirts, sweaters, and an overcoat is sufficient.

Winter is the shoulder season when visiting Shenzhen.
