The Hungry Ghost Festival (盂蘭節)
The Hungry Ghost Festival, also called the Yu Lan Festival, falls on the 15th day of the 7th lunar month (generally in August). Like Halloween, this is a festival related to ghosts in Chinese culture.
In the traditional Chinese belief, the ghosts of ancestors will return during the 7th lunar month, so some people in Hong Kong light up red candles and burn a kind of "faux money" to worship their ancestors, especially in the 15th day of the lunar month.
