Shop: Hangzhou is well known for producing excellent silks and satin. The region is also known for its fine tea. However, shopping in Hangzhou isn't limited to local specialties such as silk and tea. The products of China's high tech manufacturing are abundant and can be bought at low cost in various shops, stores, markets, malls, and plazas that crowd the commercial center.
If you want to experience some opulent shopping, Hangzhou has luxurious shopping malls at Hangzhou Tower and Hubin International Boutique where you can buy the best of Chinese or foreign products. Hangzhou's population is known for being one of the top five consumers of luxury goods in the Mainland despite its relatively small size. The Hubin International Boutique is the top fashion clothing mall that includes many international brand name luxury stores.
Shop at Qinghefang Pedestrian Street: The pedestrian shopping street is frequented by foreign tourists, and it is only about a kilometer from West Lake. So you can walk there from the lake. You'll find souvenir shops and many restaurants. There are a lot of traditional style buildings.
There are many small shops that sell locally made products, tea, and local art and crafts. At the east end of Pedestrian Street next to Wu Mountain, there is a museum called the Hangzhou History of Museum. You can learn about Hangzhou and Qinghefang's history there. The Wu Mountain area is a park you can visit.
