There are four main train stations in Xiamen: Xiamen Railway Station, Xiamen West Railway Station, Xiamen North Railway Station, and Gaoqi Railway Station. Xiamen North Railway Station (Xiamen Bei Zhan 厦门北站) is located in Houxi Town, Jimei District, Xiamen City, Fujian Province. It was opened for service on April 26, 2010.

Xiamen North Railway Station building has three floors. The first floor is for passenger arrivals, the second floor is for departures, and the third floor is for food and beverage services.

Lines and Trains

Xiamen North Railway Station is served by High-Speed Railway (HSR) services to Nanchang West, Nanjing South, Shanghai Hongqiao, Ningbo East, and Fuzhou South.

There are three major train lines serving Xiamen North Railway Station: Fuzhou-Xiamen High Speed Railway, Xiamen-Shenzhen High Speed Railway, Longyan-Xiamen High Speed Railway.

The Xiamen-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway is expected to open on 26th December, 2013. It will be an important section of the coastal railway artery. Travel time will be shortened to less than 3 hours from the current 14 hours.

Xiamen North Railway Station to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport

Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport, located in Huli District, northeast of Xiamen Island, is 16.5 km from Xiamen North Railway Station.

By Airport Express: There are round-trip Airport Express buses operating between Xiamen North and Gaoqi Airport three times daily. The total journey time is about 20 minutes, and the cost is CNY10. Departure times are as follows:

From Gaoqi Airport to Xiamen North: 10:40, 14:50, and 17:20.

From Xiamen North to Gaoqi Airport: 09:30, 12:40, and 16:00.

By taxi: This option is better for groups of 2-3 people. It is about 20 minutes from Xiamen North Railway Station to Gaoqi Airport, and the cost is about CNY60. By taxi you will pay more fees at night.

By bus: From Xiamen North Railway Station passengers can take bus 44 to Xiamen Railway Station, then bus 41 from Xiamen Railway Station to Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The cost is CNY1-5.If you are backpackers and you want to save money can choose this option, but if you are traveling with big luggage, this option is not recommended.

Xiamen North Railway Station to Gulangyu Island

Gulangyu Island is 27km from Xiamen North Railway Station. It is a quiet pedestrian-only island where you can walk around and enjoy the food and the old foreign buildings.

By taxi: The total journey time is about 50 minutes from Xiamen North to Wharf 1, and the cost is about CNY70.

By bus: Take bus 950 from Xiamen North Railway Station to Wharf 1, then a ferry to Gulangyu Island. The cost is CNY1-5.

By BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) 1B: Take BTR 1B from Xiamen North Railway Station to Wharf 1 (about CNY10), then a ferry to Gulangyu Island. At both terminals the first bus is at 06:10 and the last bus is at 22:15.

Xiamen Railway Station to Xiamen North Railway Station

Xiamen North Railway Station is 25km from Xiamen Railway Station. Xiamen Railway Station will reportedly be closed for construction work from March 2014 to January 2015. Its train services will be reallocated to Xiamen North Railway Station during this period.

Xiamen Gaoqi Railway Station to Xiamen North Railway Station

Xiamen North Railway Station is 22km from Xiamen Gaoqi Railway Station.

1. By BRT 1(the cost is CNY10).

2. By bus 953(the operating time 6:00-22:10, the cost is CNY2).

How to get to Xiamen North Railway Station?

By bus: Metro is not viable in Xiamen. You can get to Xiamen North Railway Station by bus 690, 691, 790, 890, 901, 90 5, 907, 936, 949, 950, 953, or 980, costing CNY1-2. This option is not recommended if you have a lot of luggage.

By taxi: If you are a group of 2-3 people this option is recommended. Xiamen downtown (Zhongshan Road) is 28km from Xiamen North Railway Station. The cost is about CNY80.

D Trains From Xiamen North To Fuzhou

Fuzhou is 280km from Xiamen. Passengers can take a D train from Xiamen North to Fuzhou South or Fuzhou Railway Station. The total journey time is about 1.30 hours by train and the cost is CNY66. Some of the services and times are shown below (for reference only).
