Tour of Beijing
Tom from China tours guided us for a hike on the Jiansanling section of The Great Wall and then a one day tour of Beijing including Forbidden City Tiananmen Square and the Summer Palace. He was very friendly and accommodating from the begin. He answered all of our questions about Chinese history and culture and gave great explanations of the history of all the monuments we visited. The restaurants he chose and dishes he recommended were very tasty on both days. How to Avoid the Crowds when Skiing around Beijing
Skiing is in its boom time in China. You may find the beginner trails are exceptionally crowded, especially during weekends or the holidays (New Year holidays, particularly the Spring Festival). Try to get to the ski resort early or ski during lunchtime for less busy slopes.
However, if you are an intermediate or advanced skier, the trails are usually yours alone! It's a great time to fully enjoy skiing/snowboarding in China.
What Are the Climate and Snow Conditions Like around Beijing?
It is very cold and dry around Beijing in winter. Average temperatures in the ski resorts are around -10°C (14°F), and they frequently drop below -20°C (-4°F). Weather conditions normally remain stable, and snowstorms are unlikely to affect your skiing plans.
Because of the dry weather, you can rarely find a thick layer of powder snow in the natural ski resorts, and the snow depth is normally less than 1 meter. Most Beijing ski resorts use snow cannons to keep the snow cover through the season.
